Celtic Rock Music - Davy Cowans New Solo Guitar and Vocal Album - Fragile People Celtic Rock Music - Davy Cowans New Solo Guitar and Vocal Album - Fragile People
Davy Cowan was born in Dingwall on 26th September 1966 and was brought up in a small town called Invergordon 26 miles north of the Highland capital Inverness.

Davy attended school at Invergordon Academy where he and some friends showed their early interest in music, playing his first gig at a disco in the school assembly hall with his band "The Yobs", a kind of Punk inspired Clash/Stranglers type outfit. He didn't see school as the best days of his life and left at 15 years of age to work in the family business where he trained as a joiner.

Davy worked in the building trade for the next 15 years or so, then eventually left to work for a while as a support worker with people with learning difficulties and people with mental health problems. This was something that had a profound effect on his life and an experience that he is grateful for.

Playing in various different bands through his teenage years, the best being a 4-piece band called "Proto Call" featuring lifelong friend and Coinneach drummer, Graeme Hosie, they built up a great local following but somehow drifted apart in the late 80's due to various individual commitments at the time.

It wasn't until the early 90's that Dave and some fellow musicians formed the band COINNEACH, which became his musical quest over the next decade.

With three studio albums earning them great critical acclaim and many tours and festivals at home and abroad, the band built up a solid fan base and, in the process, a reputation as one of the best Kick - Ass Celtic Rock bands on the circuit.

Davy has written a number of songs which he felt weren’t suited to what Coinneach were doing and feels the time's right to branch out and expand on the solo side of his career.

Davy Cowan Celtic Rock Musician and Songwriter

In the past Davy has supported many acts including: The Levellers (Drunk In Public), Miles Hunt (The Wonder Stuff), Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) and one of his favourite performers, Hugh Cornwall Ex Stranglers front man. Also top Scottish Gaelic Rockers Runrig on the UK leg of their “Proterra” tour in 2003, which makes his solo quest seem like a natural progression.

Davy has become renowned for his unpretentious and straight to the point approach to his song writing, drawing inspiration from the many people he has met, places he has been and situations he has encountered along the way. With songs about lost love and hopelessness, to the simple beauty of life, his lyrics reflect on many different subjects, ranging from lost train journey’s to cross channel ferry trips, a professional gatecrasher, to a loner who loves train spotting and anoraks with some optimistic cynicism thrown in.

With Davy’s many different musical influences, his eclectic style makes it almost impossible to pigeonhole his music into any one genre. His debut solo album “FRAGILE PEOPLE” is a melting pot of ideas and styles featuring all original songs written by Davy, which are primarily acoustic based contemporary Folk/Roots, with hints of Bluegrass, Country and pop that makes for compelling listening and add an extra dimension to Davy’s song writing.
